BMW M3 Electric Prototype to Produce Up to 670 HP, Will Get Integrated Battery and Advanced Technology

BMW’s M Performance division has released the first ever spy shots of its M3 electric prototype known as ZA0. It seems this design will be greatly based on the BMW Neue Klasse Vision Concept revealed last year. This reveal happens on the heels of the regular i3 Neue Klasse sedan was spied in November earlier this year. In this regard, BMW has a broad plan of including models that will diversify the Neue Klasse, such as the M4 EV and iX3 M lineup by the 2028 model year.

Exclusive Features Present in BMW M3

The front end of the M3 EV comes with double-barrel headlights on either side of the low-slung signature kidney grille while the neat bumper lacks the agressive cuts and lines as we have seen on previous models. From the side, its shape is not very different from this three-box concept, but even the exterior shaving comes with a number of exclusivity features such as broader wheel arches, flared wheel arches and high-impact M sport alloy wheels setting it apart from the regular i3 Neute Klasse.

Typically it has a lower centre of gravity, which could be as a result of a sporty suspension system. A downside however, is that it lacks a sloping rear roofline, as was seen on the concept and a generous boot is included.

Powerful Performance Potential

BMW has not released official specifications yet, but according to media information, the base M3 EV could generate up to 670 hp, and other versions could be developed. Before, BMW suggested a quadruple-motor drive, good for more than 1,300 hp, but this sort of power level will probably be available only for the more premium versions of the model.

The bespoke electric architecture for the Full M3 EV is aimed at structure-integrated battery capacity from 75 to 150 kWh. These cylindrical cells designed and built by BMW have distinctive energy density 20% more than the prismatic cells used in previous EVs and high charging rates of up to 270 kW. The platform supports options from rear-wheel to all wheel drive, and these support various electric motor possibilities.

The first of the cars built on Neue Klasse will come out in the second half of next year, with 5 more models planned before the end of the decade. Mini car also owned by BMW shall also incorporate this superior architecture.
