BYD Bao Concept: India has recently emerged as a green signal for electric cars that makes BYD rightly keen on expanding its base in India. In executing the strategy, the firm has also registered new trademarks for the Super 3/Bao 3 and Super 9/Bao. But where and when these new EVs will be launched in India, that too is not fully clear at the moment.
Features of New BYD Bao 3 EV
The Bao 3 is an off-road electric SUV which is inspired by the Super 3 production automobile model. It is one of the brands owned by the Fang Cheng Bao group, which is in turn a subsidiary of BYD; the primary business model of Fang Cheng Bao is production of high-performance off-road and racing Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).
The Bao 3 has a fairly edgy, contemplative, boxy outline, certain of the defining features are: front and rear bumpering shield, LED lighting accents, aggressive skeletal bodyettes, a one touch powered flush, fush black accent handles, integrated roof rails side molding, upto-18 inch sport alloy rims. Depending on the kind of variant the SUV has tires of 235/60R18 or 245/50R19.
Dimensions of BYD Bao Concept
The BYD Bao 3 has a dimension of the length 4,605mm, width 1,900mm, height 1,720mm and wheel base of 2,745mm. It has a kerb weight of 2150Kg. The clearance height or ground clearance is 229mm and the approach angle and the departure angle of the SUV is 25 and 28 degree respectively. Equipped with a four-wheel drive and dual electric motors, the from motor produces 150 PS, while the rear motor produces 300 PS.
The Bao 3 is installed with the Blade battery packs that are produced by the subsidiary firm known as FinDreams. These packs incorporate lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery chemistry which has credibility on safety and endurance. At the same time, acceleration characteristics of the Bao 3 are improved with the acceleration rate of 0-100 km/h in 4.9 sec and the maximum speed of 201 km/h.
Elegant Design of Bao Concept
In earlier this year, Fang Cheng Bao launched its Super 9 concept which is the electric convertible sports car. It is set to go into production as the Bao 9 when it is finally released to the market. The rugged looking Super 9 is the work of Wolfgang Eggert, BYD’s chief designer responsible for the automaker’s designs. Eggert, who has previously worked with the elite brands like Lamborghini and Audi, was instrumental in carving out this near perfect look for the new car.
The BYD Bao 9 has an elegant and attractively aerodynamic design with curvy lines and scissor doors as well. At the rear it has two tail pipes and two tail lights and a superbly designed spoiler at the back. The two seat cabin has a twin cockpit design, a racing style steering wheel, and built-in carbon fiber seating. The central console also has strong race overtones, as for most modern sports cars there are buttons on it. However, specific details of the battery capacity, power, torque, range, etc., of hardware are missing at the moment.
India had officially trademarked the designs of Bao 3 and Bao 9, however the vague timing indicators were not clearly put by them when are they going to introduce these new designs in the market. BYD has more lined up for India in the future, with plans to display a flagship premium electric SUV on the occasion of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The firm may also have more statements to make throughout the occasion.
