Lamborghini Lanzador EV: Unlike Aston Martin and Bentley, Lamborghini has not chosen to wait before launching its EV. But the Italian manufactured supercar brand aims to maintain the production of its three current hybrid models for as long as it can.
Lamborghini’s Commitment on Electrical Future
Lamborghini’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, told Autocar UK that the outfit fully supports the previous electrical future of the firm, adding, ‘The right time when launching a car is far more important than the innovation itself.’
The decision to both, hybridize and renew the entire lineup was considered to be a massive undertaking for the company. In the past four years, much effort has been expended to advance this strategy which is only now being seen as possibly correct decision. The identified strategy of actions called for a gradual process of electrification, a step-by-step model as some described was highlighted as the right course of action to take.
Lamborghini’s first fully-electric vehicle, based on the Lanzador concept shown last year, is being built as a new model rather than risking existing sales and maybe increasing them. At the moment there is a leeway to modifying the time line but no changes are in the offering and the EV is expected to take its place amongst the fourth generation offering in the segment before the decade ends.
However, according to Winkelmann, it is agreed that the adoption curve for Battery Electric Vehicles has not been as steep as forecasted. They pointed out this was “even more” fitting for the super-sports car segment where Lamborghini competes. Thus, the fact that the company’s form remained unchanged allowed stating that “to be as hybrid as possible” is the right strategy.
Reevaluation of EV Plans by Supercar Makers
Winkelmann’s remarks came as other supercar makers have also begun reconsidering their EV plans ‘ Shocking. The initial models in cars from other low-run automobile companies like Aston Martin, Bentley, and Ineos have been pushed to the future because of low uptake of electric cars. Same to that, Lotus had to change the previous strategies to switch to an all-electric fleet and is now expected to release the range-extender hybrids. Automotive manufacturer Porsche, for instance, seeing little demand for high-end electric cars, is considering how to prolong the useful life of existing vehicles with internal combustion engines.
Hybridized Lineup of Lamborghini For The Near Future
Now, with the Temerario, which replaces Huracán, and an electrified V8, Lamborghini has completed the full hybridization of its lineup. Winkelmann also and agreed to electrification, even though synthetic fuels may become competitive. He touched on battery technology as a performance improvement feature with additional improvements on hybrid systems predicted in the future.
The advantages in performance offered by electrification are persuading Lamborghini’s consumers toward its hybrid vehicles. The next model up, the Revuelto boasting of a V12 with battery assistance, is not available until 2026 and the Urus SE plug-in hybrid SUV model is sold out for 2025.
Even after having lost two cylinders, the Temerario has a bigger engine size than what V6 competing cars such as the Ferrari 296 and McLaren Artura offer. Winkelmann said other important factors he witnessed include the 10,000rpm redline and engine size. Investing directly in its designs, Lamborghini targets the long-term efficiency, including external pressures and customers’ choices.
