MG Cyberster EV: MG has formally declared that the first electric sportscar named the Cyberster is set to launch in India from January, 2025. The Cyberster was first introduced in the country back in March this year and will be sold through the MG Select, the brands other luxury car retail platform.
New MG Cyberstar for Luxury Offerings
Earlier this year, JSW MG Motor India launched a new retail model that exists alongside its regular outlets, known as MG Select, to sell its luxury models. The Cyberster will be the first model that the company plans to sell through a network of select dealers with 12 MG Select experience centers currently planned for India with future expansion in mind.
Dimensions of New MG Cyberstar
The Cyberster that was first revealed as the concept at the 2021 Geneva motor show, was recently unveiled at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The sportscar is 4,533mm long, 1,912mm wide, 1,328mm tall while its wheelbase stands at 2,689mm; not forgetting that it is built on a born-electric platform.
Powertrain Options and Future Launch Plans
The MG Cyberster, already on sale in several international markets, offers two battery and motor configurations: a larger 64kWh battery linked to a single 308hp rear-axle motor rated at 520km based on CLTC and the 77kWh battery shared with dual motors producing 544hp & 725Nm rated for 580km.
The vehicle will initially be imported as a CBU and JSW MG Motor India has not announced which powertrain configuration will be offered. Much the same as the Cyberster, Mifa electric MPV is planned to be presented in India as well.
Pricing of MG Cyberstar
According to the current reports, the MG Cyberster will are expected to be the costs between ₹50 lakh to ₹60 lakh for the initial phase of procurement. In the Indian market it will be an electric sportscar and there will be no immediate replacement to this car in the market. Nevertheless, it will do so in the upper mid-competitive sets that include the likes of BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 among others.
