Skoda Kushaq Facelift: The company has recently discovered all the price variants of Kylaq which is a compact SUV from the house of Skoda is expected to cost between Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom price, India). So, the positioning of the Kylaq is therefore similar to the Kushaq primarily, or it is so done because the Kylaq is, more or less, related to it and features similar spec sheet and the 1.0-litre TSI motor.
Proposition for the Skoda Kushaq
Skoda is not willing to confuse the customers into thinking both the Kylaq and Kushaq are virtually identical to each other. Speaking to Autocar India, Petr Janeba, the brand director of Skoda India stressed that his firm intends to create a separate proposition of the Kushaq. This strategy is, however, likely to see Skoda release even more affordable trim levels of the Kushaq, the 1.5-litre TSI engine likely being standard across most variants.
Impact of Kylaq on Kusahq Sales
As it has been said, it is established that at the moment, 85% of the Kushaq’s sales consist of the 1.0-litre versions. But since the Kylaq is in the market now, transformation to 1.5-litre versions will mean more volume. Its author Janeba said, ‘By future perspectives it is expected that approximately 65-70% of total sales will be generated by the 1.0-litre variants of the Kushaq.’
Upcoming Facelift for the Kushaq
Even Janeba identified the Kylaq may affect the sales of the Kushaq to some extent meaning the Nissan brand would attract customers that would have otherwise come for the Kushaq. But the extra volumes courtesy of Kylaq will help in scale economies, Skoda needs to remain as a price challenger in midsize SUV with Kushaq sales underwhelming. ‘We can make some changes to the Kushaq’s feature set and warranty conditions so as to avoid overlapping of the models and maximize their value,’ he said while stressing that the two should be priced comparable.
Skoda’s boards have already mapped out a mid-lifecycle updates for the Kushaq with the model set to be taken to market in 2025. The facelift will comprise of new additions to the model as well as aesthetic enhancements to distinguish the Kushaq from the Kylaq.
