Skoda Kylaq Vs Kia Sonet: The Skoda Kylaq is the latest car the brand is bringing to India and it firmly plants itself into the subcompact SUV market, where it will be up against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. Initially introduced with the ex-showroom price of ₹ 7.89 lakh, the Kylaq offers some of the features inside its cabin. But it lacks some features when compared to its competitor Kia Sonet although both are subcompact SUVs.
Here’s a brief overview of five areas where the Kia Sonet excels over its competitor, the Skoda Kylaq:
Versatile Camera
The newest model is the Kia Sonet, one of the cars that feature all-round 360-degree camera which is very useful and sharp. Strangely, unlike its competitors, the Skoda Kylaq only offers reverse parking camera only as an option. Finally, the Sonet also includes a blind-spot view monitor for the instrument cluster from cameras placed on the exterior rearview mirrors. This is particularly useful whilst undertaking overtaking as the driver is easily able to gauge the blind spots. Unfortunately, the Skoda Kylaq lacks this feature which really puts the car at a disadvantage against the Sonet.
Front Parking Assist Sensors
Reversing sensors are now almost ‘standard’ in all new cars, rear parking sensors being especially common, front ones gaining ground as standard even in entry-level models. These sensors prove most useful when parking in tight spaces, and for controlling high levels of congestion, making the car easier to navigate and more aware of the environment around it. The Kia Sonet includes front park assist system hence an advantage over the Skoda Kodiaq which only has rear park assist system.
Specialized Air Purifier
This car comes fitted with a specialized air purifier complete with a digital display to show AQI and also provides safety from airborne viruses and bacteria within the cabin of the Kia Sonet. Similarly, on the Skoda Kylaq it is possible to find a feature named as Air Care which is also used in climate control. On the other hand, the air purifier in Kia Sonet offers quantitative quality data for better results, which makes the Kia Sonet’s air purifier superior to competitors.
ADAS
The Kia Sonet has Level 1 ADAS, which is a big plus for this car compared to the Skoda Kylaq. The safety and convenience of driving are also aimed at improvements with such ADAS as forward collision avoidance assistance, lane keep assistance, and the driver attention warning. On its part, the Skoda Kylaq lacks such precision in its design, which puts it on the receiving end for such complex and technical systems.
Infotainment and Instrument Display
These include the 10.25-inch touch screen digital cluster, mid-level model with 10.25 inches center cluster, and 10.25 inches head up display. At the same time, the Skoda Kylaq offers a 10-inch touch screen display and 10-inch infotainment and 8 inch cluster. On this front, there is not much of a difference between the two cars in terms of the infotainment screen size, but then, the Sonet does pack a larger instrument cluster, and consequently a much better experience while handling the car.
