Toyota Supra Final Edition: Toyota has revealed a special edition of the A90 Supra focusing on the track, representing the last iteration of the sports car before going out of production, six years after its introduction. This edition gets an extensively revised chassis, daring new style elements, and a race-inspired interior built for performance enthusiasts.
The Supra’s Origins and Hiatus
When it premiered in 2019, the A90 Supra became the fifth-generation representation of an iconic Toyota sports car. It was jointly developed with BMW, using several components from the BMW Z4 roadster since both of them will be manufactured in Austria, obviously by Magna Steyr.
The name was first introduced in 1978 and four generations were produced over the next two decades. Its production was halted in the late ’90s when stricter emissions controls became mandatory. The third iteration was finally revived in 2019 after a sustained course of lobbying efforts by Akio Toyoda, the chairman of Toyota and an ardent car enthusiast. “Though Toyota had no plans to produce a new version of the Supra, I secretly wanted to make it; like many hard-core Supra enthusiasts around the world,” he confessed.
The Final Edition has a much bolder, track-ready design with a carbonfibre rear spoiler, its aerodynamic canards, and a vented bonnet that hints at more oomph. Inside are carbonfibre Recaro seats in Alcantara, red accents, unique trim and it is unmistakably different from the usual Supra.
Upgraded Features Toyota Supra
Upgraded airflow, a low-back-pressure exhaust catalyst, and ECU tweaks mean the upgraded Supra is good for 0-100kph in under 4 seconds. Track-focused upgrades include an oil pan baffle, enhanced cooling and an Akrapovi backbox for deeper engine sounds.
The Final Edition also sees the fitment of better brakes, KW adjustable dampers, a reinforced GT4-derived rear subframe, and wider Michelin PS 2 tires, 10% broader than the standard model.
As far as the final production stage goes, Toyota has provided minimal updates to the base 3.0-liter Supra, such as cosmetic and styling tweaks, in addition to an optimized differential. This Final Edition represents the conclusion for the road-going Supra; however, Toyota will keep working on the model further through its motorsport initiatives.
