VinFast VF 6: Vietnamese EV company VinFast unveiled its VF 6 B-segment SUV to meet demand as Europeans shift toward electric vehicles. This decision is made in stark contrast to most automobile manufacturing companies that have directed their attention towards the C and D segments of EVs.
Scarce EV Options in European Market
The B-segment it is the second biggest market in Europe with subcompact vehicles, it has a projected 27% of vehicles sold by 2022. Nevertheless, the availability of EVs in this segment is still quite scarce despite the segment’s large size. A B-segment study in France showed less than 20 EV models while 40 in C-segment and 25 in a D-segment.
The actual study conducted by Boston Consulting Group shows that the continuing expansion of the popularity of EVs in Europe depends on the presence of affordable models in the B segment. However, the relatively expensive EV technology has made many of the manufacturers shift towards larger, higher margin cars.
VinFast’s Strategy for Expansion
VinFast is currently listed on Nasdaq, and to become a competitive brand, garners its EVs’ affordability coupled with full packages. The VF 6 is the second model that the company has offered in the European market after the VF 8 SUV. Pricing policies and strategies, features that customers are guaranteed to receive in products manufactured by VinFast, as well as after-sales services will be VinFast’s tools for communicating with consumers.
