Next-Gen Mercedes-Benz CLA: Mercedes-Benz disclose the more details about it’s expected next-generation CLA seden. It will flourish the present A-Class as the brand’s entry-level seden. It is constructed on the innovative MMA Platform, that the CLA will accommodate both fully electric and internal combustion engine variants.
CLA’s Improvised Features and Range
The electric CLA will launch an 800V system, which is influenced by the EQXX notion, enabling DC fast charging at approx 320 kW. It is built on the MMA platform, as it features upto 85kWH batteries and a rear-axle motor that is delivering 268 bhp, paired with 2-speed transmission for improvised capacity.
The new CLA’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive variants will feature an extra 107 bhp motor on the front axle. This motor engages only when additional traction or power is required, remaining disengaged under normal conditions to improve efficiency. Mercedes claims that this configuration plays a key role in the remarkable efficiency of the CLA concept, which offers a range exceeding 750 km.
Mercedes-Benz Battery Variants
Mercedes-Benz has announced that the CLA will offer two battery options with distinct cell chemistries. The base model will be shaped with a 58kWh lithium iron phosphate, whereas the premium models will come with a more powerful 85 kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery. The CLA’s ICE lineup includes 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engines with 134 bhp, 161 bhp and 188 bhp. It’s front-wheel drive is standard, but it also have an option of 4Matic all-wheel drive.
The CLA will be equipped with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that includes an integrated electric motor and inverter. This system is charged by a 48V, 1.3 kWh battery, delivering an extra 27 bhp of power. It allows for some electric-only driving and also serves as a starter motor for the stop-start feature.
