Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV: For the new year 2025, the Mercedes-Benz India recently declared that the eagerly-awaited vehicle called G 580 with EQ Technology will launch in the market on 9th of January 2025. The G-Class MAYBACH 6 all-electric large luxury vehicle comes with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in just 1.6 seconds, with an all-wheel drive quad motor setup and has a battery range of up to 473 km.
Subtle Updated Design of G 580 EV
Exactly in its design, the appearance of the G 580 EV only slightly deviates from the traditional internal combustion G-Class. The front end has a shut off panel in lieu of the familiar four slat grille though the globe has an option of an EQ like blanked out grille with glowing bezels. Further, the bumpers are has minor updates and the skirt on the anterior pillar of the A pillar also has updates.
In the back, the G 580 has a roof spoiler and optional air vents in the rear wheel houses improving its aerodynamic functionality. Moreover, the G 580 EV is equipped with an extra square storage box in the rear part instead of the spare wheel that is fixed on the boot lid; however, it is beneficial to store items like the charging cable, tools, etc.
Stylish Interior of G 580 EV
The interior of the G 580 EV is mostly the same as what was offered in the G-Class powered by internal combustion engine; most of the major controls are located on a large configurable tablet with twin 12.3-inch screens atop the dashboard. However, you will notice that EQ-only graphics are incorporated into its displays and a swap in functionality-from the three independent-locking differential switches to controls for the ‘tank turn’ and low range.
Powerful Performance of G 580 EV
The G 580 is augmented by a quad-motor all-wheel-drive bonnet that produces an incredible power of 579 bhp and whopping torque of 1,164 Nm. With under-floor battery pack of 116 kWh, motors can offer claimed range up to 551 km on a single charge. On the subject of power, Mercedes states that the vehicle can do the 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds, 0.4s behind the AMG G 63, with a top speed of 180kmph, which was electronically limited.
Enhanced Off-Road Capabilities & Bookings
The G 580 EV uses an onboard charger with a maximum capacity of 11 kW AC charging, or 200 kW DC fast charging for seamless recharging. Essentially, the interior is as before, but close to the driver’s seat there are three switches that work the differentials’ lockers in most Sport Utilities, but in this truck, there are controls for the tank turn and low range.
Designers have made improvements to the G 580 EV’s off-road performance, with approach and departure angles of 32 degrees and 30.7 degrees, respectively, and a breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, as well as the ability to drive on side slopes of up to 35 and to ford water with a depth of up to 850 mm The company has taken bookings for the electric G-Class in India since July.
